Thekua

Thekua

Thekua is a delectable sweet dish which is crispy, crunchy and is often offered as a prasad during popular ‘Chhath’ puja. It is an easy-to-make snack recipe. It can be made using chhasni (sugar water) or jaggery. Today I am sharing recipe made using wheat, jaggery, coconut, and cardamom.

INGREDIENTS:

150 GMS(1 CUP) – WHEAT FLOUR
75GMS (LITTLE LESS THAN 1/2 CUP) – JAGGERY
25 GMS(1/4 CUP) – RAW COCONUT POWDER OR FLAKES
1 TBSP – GHEE
1/4 TSP – CARDAMOM POWDER
LITTLE LESS THAN 1/4 CUP – WATER
TO FRY – OIL

Take a pan add water and jaggery and boil it till jaggery completly melts. Now add 1 tbsp ghee and mix and let it cool for sometime.

Mean while take wheat flour, coconut, cardamom and mix properly.

Once the jaggery water is cool enough to touch, add it to wheat mixture and make a tight dough.

Now make cookie shape out of the dough but it should be little thick. You can use Thekua mould to make designs on it or you can make it using fork.

Take oil or ghee in a pan and heat it, but it should be only medium hot. Add thekuas in it and fry n low flame till golden brown(flip in between for even cooking).

Take out in plate. Serve once it it cool as when it is hot it is soft.

Your crispy, crunchy and tasty Thekua is ready.

EXTRA INFO:

* The dough should be tight.

* Oil or Ghee whatever you take for frying should not be too hot, it should only be medium hot.

* Thekuas are fried in low flame.
